Can You See The Moon

For sale now at Shah Alam Gallery.

This is a tactile painting which invites its viewers, both sighted and blind, to explore its raised lines and different textures. On it, are words in braille, that read:

The painting is based on a true event. Soon after birth, I discovered that my son Hisham had vision issues or may be blind. However, no doctor could tell me how much he could see. It was only through time and observation that I began to learn more about his vision. This painting is about one of those moments. One night, on a walk, I asked him if he could see the moon, and he said he could. I was overjoyed that he too could see it as the moon is beautiful and has always been one of Allah’s most magnificent creations. Alhamdulillah.

…and I asked you

“Can you see the moon?”

And you replied

“I  can”
